Tuesday Outfit: Simple in Dots

Jul 22, 2025

Despite myself, I love polka dots. Big ones. Small ones. Tiny tonal hued ones. So when I spotted a simple, stylish outfit that works for summer-to-fall (or in any season really) featuring an easy dotted blouse, I had to share it. Let’s go.

This look, spotted on Pinterest, is just such an easy outfit. But despite its ease, it offers a little something extra for those of us who like basics but need more. Here’s how to recreate it.

The Top // The polka dots on this button up add femininity without become too girly for work. This DR2 blouse is such a steal at $20. This stretch button down from Amazon is also worth a look. But my favorite look is from Gap — this dramatic blouse with a bib collar is definitely a statement piece. I bought it instantly to wear with black pants.

The Jeans // You knew it was going to be my favorite wide leg Nordstrom jeans. It was inevitable. They’re just so fabulous with the light wash and the relaxed vibes. They’re also pretty comfortable.

Prefer a straight leg style? These Madewell jeans are a reader favorite, and they come in petite and tall. I also like these Melissa jeans from Kut from the Kloth, which sell out every time they restock. Need a fully size inclusive pick (medium tall, petite, plus, etc.), then you need to visit LL Bean.

The Shoes // A red flat is a great option for sprucing up casual attire. I liked the deeper cherry shade of the inspiration photo, and if you’re looking for that color, Vionic has you covered. However, I think these Madewell mules will fit into my wardrobe better for the summer-to-fall glow up. The mule style with the strap just offers a little something more. Plus, they’re currently on sale.

Accessories // This outfit is made with basic pieces that offer just a little more. So I chose this pendant from Monica Vinader that has a rhodium coin set in a gold bezel. I wear it with their beaded chain in the longer 21″ length. (MV has gifted me some pieces, but I bought both of these with my own money.)

For the sunglasses, I think the round style makes the look a bit more casual and trendy. Perhaps this is because I rarely wear round frames, but always see celebrities wearing them. I chose these unisex Krewe frames, but if you need a cheaper option, Warby Parker has you covered. Looking for more of a round-ish frame? Don’t miss these Ray-Bans.

Lastly, if you like to travel light, I highly recommend the Bandolier phone cases. At the park. At a concert. For working in large government buildings. These cases are awesome. You can wear a longer strap or choose a simple wristlet chain, like the one pictured above.

Do you happen to have the link for the blouse you included in the collage? It looks a bit different from the three you linked (and I like it best!). Thanks!
