Anniversary Sale: The Best of What’s Left

The time is here. The Anniversary Sale is finally open to those of us on the bottom of the loyalty ladder. You might think a powerful fashion influencer like myself would certainly have been able to shop before the final day, but you would be wrong.

Several years ago, I cut up all of my store credit cards and threw a funeral for them in the backyard. Their tiny gravestones now sit beside my geraniums; my J.Crew card is next to the peonies, a reminder of shopping sprees of yore. So, like many of you, I am relegated to shopping only the very best of what is left. Let’s check in with my primary wishlist and see if the marauding bands of card holders left any crumbs for the rest of us, shall we?

1. Still Available! AllSaints updated the crossbody bag I use almost every day. The wider strap and modern hardware are fantastic.  Add to wishlist.
2. Still Available (in all but the smallest sizes). Praise be, Wanda Jo! This collarless twill blazer from Nordstrom is superb. I will wear this with jeans and with suit separates. Also comes in black.
3. Sold Out (I’m bereft). Lizzie Fortunato made the most incredible Amazonite pendant necklace. It’s chunky and cool and makes any outfit feel more special.
4. Sold Out. All Sizes. The covered buttons on this WAYF cardigan give it such a chic look.
5. Nearly Sold Out. These lidded woven baskets make the perfect laundry hampers, and they’re pretty enough to sit out in your bedroom without ruining the vibes.
6. Several Sizes Available. This Camilla waterproof trench from Barbour is stunning. It almost makes me glad I live in a rainy place, so I can wear it all the time.  Almost. (I needed a lighter weight trench than my wool winter one, so this is amazing for me.)
7. Several Sizes Available. This Caslon short jacket in olive is a stunner. So cute and casual.
8. Most Sizes Available. One of my best every day bras is available, so I’m pretty excited about that.

Well, that is not too shabby at all. Also, because I write this blog, several friends reached out to let me know what was worth buying and what was not from what they chose for themselves. Let’s pull that list as well.

1. From the Maid of Honor // Skip the Veronica Beard suit. She says the pants bunched up and wrinkled just in the try on due to a “weird fabric.” She also said the sizing on the jacket was very inconsistent. I’m broken hearted.
2. From the Maid of Honor // She did say these she bought these Cole Haan Bellport pumps in multiple colors. Very comfortable and perfect for the office.
3. From the Former Co-Worker // The Caslon lace shirt is as good in person. Only sizes M-XL are still available, but they may come back.
4. From the Former Co-Worker // I thought the beauty selection this year was a bit of a snore, but she scooped up this red light mask from SofWave that is $105 off list price.
5. From the Husband // These New Balances, which are the first non-Nike sneakers he’s endorsed since Jordan dunked his last ball.
6. From the Husband // This short sleeve button front sweater with linen pants is good for a summer dinner date or event.
7. From the Husband // These AG Wanderer shorts. “Good colors. Good for Dads.” He’s a man of few words unless the Packers are on, then he has all the swear words.
8. From a Reader Who Checked Out Five Minutes After the Sale Started // The Paige blouse is “as gorgeous as advertised. Wore same day.”
9. From a Reader with Two Kids and a Love of Travel // “I bought the Pico travel car seat for both kids. If you haven’t seen it, it works on the plane and in the rental car for kids 2+. I won’t ever have to worry Hertz won’t have a car seat again!”
