The Jumble: April 8, 2026

Apr 8, 2026

For 65 days, I lived in a clean, quiet house. I left a clean house. I came home to a clean house.

I did the dishes once a week. Took out the trash twice per week. Laundry was done on Thursday nights. Sheets were washed on Sundays. No one made a mess for me to clean up but me.

Now, the Session is over, and I am home and the return to manual labor is in full force. Dishes are done daily. Trash is done daily. Messes are cleaned up morning, noon, and night. Laundry never ends. Stains appear on carpets, walls, and cabinets — who put that there? Doesn’t matter, who will wipe it up?

Oh, that’s right, me.

My husband’s reply is always the same: Just let it be a mess. 11 years together, and he has still not figured out that I can’t. So here’s to all the women who want a clean home, married to men who were taught it’s optional, because it was always optional for them.

+ How the f**k is everyone living this rich?

+ Speaking of cleaning, meet my new spinning, electric mop. Love.

+ This has to be the prettiest, chicest collar detail ever.

+ This boxy eyelet shirt from MM LaFleur is so cute for summer.

+ Lessons on how to speak. (A very illuminating Insta carousel.)

+ A chocolate brown cropped jacket for spring? Yes, please.

+ These sheet pan frittata sandwiches are perfect for feeding a crowd.

+ Plunging necklines, backless dresses, etc. — summer styles need Cakes, not bras.

+ It’s not postpartum or perimenopause — it’s both (in case you also had a baby after 35).

+ Welcome to 43, where the launch of an eye serum is an RSVP event.

+ Axios explains why American politics isn’t as divided as you think it is.

+ Tuckernuck brings the whimsy with strawberry print and eyelet trim.

+ A Reddit thread of advice for women over 40, by women who already lived that.

+ Finally, a way to store pot lids so they’re not a haphazard mess.

+ Something alarming is happening to women in the workplace.

+ Rothy’s gifted Sloane some camo loafers. She wouldn’t take them off. So I found the same pair in my size on Poshmark so we can twin.

+ Just trust me. You need this joy.

While I love the idea of Cakes and wholeheartedly agree some pieces of clothing are not conducive to a traditional bra, I did not find the Cakes to be very effective when I last wore them. I got them during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty and was excited but they just didn’t stick well. I didn’t get the adhesive version so I’m wondering if that’s my problem? I live in south Florida so heat is NOT a problem and this typically promotes adherence in my past wears of other brands of silicone covers. I’d love to know what I’m doing wrong!

I keep seeing “articulation lessons” and other speaking classes on Instagram. What is this? For those of us who are comfortable with public speaking and/or were trained as litigators, what even is this? Does anyone know?
