February is half over. Spring is coming. But I have a feeling, based on how mild winter was, that it might be a cold and wet one. That means that I need sweaters that are appropriate for spring. And here’s an outfit that can be worn now, a month from now, and depending on the temperature, two months from now.

This photo appears to be of Leandra Medine, formerly of Man Repeller, wearing an outfit that, for her, is extremely subdued. But I like how the brooches create a new look out of simple pieces. The placement on the collar, slightly offset, extending down from the neck is chic.
Sweater // When searching for a spring sweater, you want one with an airier knit. You want a chunky weave, or else the sweater will be too hot. Cotton is also your friend if you want a spring sweater that won’t swamp you.
It can be difficult to tell from a photo, but this Tuckernuck sweater has a chunkier look. J.Crew’s rollneck sweater is also a great spring option. For something affordable in more sizes, this cotton rag sweater from LL Bean is worth a look.
Denim // If you still don’t have a pair of off white jeans, this is your cue to buy some. Madewell has several styles, including these relaxed bootcut jeans. I also like their wide leg cropped style, which is basically my go to spring/summer denim look. It just feels a bit more relaxed.
Also, if you haven’t tried barrel leg jeans, several women have told me these J.Crew Factory ones are the best. One friend described them as giving her the ability to wear a trend without looking like she rode a horse to work that day.
Shoes // I consider a lot of shoe options here — a colored sneaker, a metallic flat, spring’s hottest shoe, the loafer mule — but I wanted to lighten up the look. To bring in the spring vibes, I chose these woven flats from Sam Edelman. These shoes will be everywhere this spring. I’ve seen them on so many influencer pages, and it seems they are purchased not gifted, which can be a rarity.
Bag // You could wear many colors here depending on mood. I chose light blue because I wanted a lighter, springier look. I also considered burgundy, for a moodier vibe. You could snap up an olive green for something more modern. Or go for contrast and grab a rust bag.
Brooch // Choosing a brooch is all about your personal preferences. Here, Leandra, chose fish pins in a chunky, silvery metal. They feel a bit eclectic, a bit vintage, very her aesthetic. For me, I want something more classic. This dragonfly pin from Frances Valentine is a cool one. This bird pendant is a chic option. For something more organic, try this silver leaf pin.

I love these elevated casual looks! I bought those sam edelman flats in red. Love them and looking forward to lots of wear when the weather warms up.
