Thursday Outfit: Styled, but Relaxed

Oct 9, 2025

My wrist is still really sore, though the $20 wrist brace from Urgent Care is helping. So let’s see if we can type a whole post because I already made the collage, and it’s just lonely, sitting in Canva.

This outfit is for the plane. This outfit is for an in office Friday when your period is two days late. This outfit is for a parent-teacher conference when you need to look like a Mom, but don’t want to look like you are headed to yoga. Here’s how to recreate it.

The Pants // Palazzo pants are a more relaxed way to wear wide legs. While they are most often seen on ladies playing shuffle board beachside, they work anywhere. This pair from Boden are very wide, and very flowy. For something a bit less wide, this LOFT pair is worth a look (also in petite and tall).

For me, I love a really wide pant, but I would be happier with a pant that can be worn in different settings. So I found these Lennox pants from Nordstrom that have some width, but are more versatile. And these Universal Standard pants will give you a similar look in a wider size range.

The Tee // I love a graphic tee. It adds a little bit of whimsy or edge to an outfit. I like a neutral color palette with a little bit of color for max versatility. This one from Farfetch is neutral with a feminine side. For something with a bit more subtlety, try this medallion-printed t-shirt. Or if you want max whimsy, I love the idea of having Sloane’s artwork embroidered on a shirt.

The Jacket // A denim jacket is still a must for me. I like a classic style in a medium wash. This J.Crew Factory jacket is a great choice. Looking for an alternative? This quilted Mango jacket is pretty great. This crossover denim jacket has some military vibes. A&F also has a great bomber jacket on offer.

Shoes // Sneakers are a must for me in my 40s. I just need the support in a way I didn’t pre-pregnancy, so I want cool sneakers. These Gola sneakers are my preferred alternative to the Veja sneakers or Adidas sneakers because they just feel better on my feet. If you have a favorite sneaker, leave it in the comments.

Accessories // Michele makes a high quality watch that you can often find for a discounted price. So if you love a watch, this is a brand to check out. But if you’re not a watch girlie, Sterling Forever makes a watch-style bracelet. Add in a textured bracelet from Monica Vinader for a simple stack.

Styling // If I’m wearing a denim jacket, I like to pop the collar. And when I pop collar, I prefer to wear hair up for the effect. A low bun usually does the trick. For makeup, I suggest contouring the jawline.

I love those Universal Standard pants, just wish they had pockets.

I love this outfit! For any other ladies with sensory issues (I am extremely picky about waistbands & fabric) – I linked my absolute holy grail palazzo pant. They are much softer & lighter than a lot of merino, but not see through, and perfect for anything from working from home all day to long plane rides! https://wooland.com/products/lisbon-palazzo-pant-black

I sprained my wrist last spring when I pulled a too heavy grocery bag out of the car. Can relate.

I switched to Kizik and have never looked back. Actually hands-free on and off, cute/trendy styles, tons of colors, good arch support.
