The Find: A Casual Tee

Sep 3, 2025

Sometimes I spot a piece for sale and realize that I will wear it more than I am comfortable admitting. It will become the shirt or dress that I’m sad is in the wash. And this striped tee from Caslon is such a piece.

Yes, this is stripes two days in a row, but this long-sleeve waffle knit tee is perfect for fall.  Wear it alone with leggings, jeans, olive pants, or wide leg lounge pants.  Add a puffer vest, a utility jacket, a short trench, or a slim-fitting button-up under neath for a great layered look.

The tee comes in six colors, and weighs in at $39.  I always size down in Caslon when the style is loose-fitting, so I would be an S instead of an M.  I have a feeling that the stripe may sell put, so if you want that color way, I’d snatch it up.

I may have missed it, but do you have a wide leg lounge pant you suggest in a mid rise? I’m looking at Varley’s ‘the wide leg’ pant or Vuori’s Elevation line. I can’t stand the fabric of the Athleta Brooklyn pants everyone loves and being 5’3 high rise pants often go up to my bra.

I have the Varley pants you mentioned. I love the weight and the material. I also like they make different lengths

Talbots’ Out and About Wide Leg Pants are my fave! I found navy in the store and immediately bought the black after wearing them once.

I would love to hear what people think of Vuori wide length short pants, or something similiar. I have Vuori’s joggers in short length and love them (though they pill inside and thus feel less soft). So hard to find good casual wide (but not too wide) loose pants that don’t overwhelm us petite gals! Will check out the Varleys – thanks!!

I have the Vuori’s in reg length but my friend has them in short and she loves them (as do I). I have probably too much Vuori and Varley but like the Vuori pants better. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    2 points to add:

    1. DONT Sleep on long sleeve waffle tees. I bought two at Abercrombie like 4 years ago and they’re still my most favorite things (they don’t sell them anymore). I’ve now ordered 3 of the Caslon shirts.

    2. Bought the quince wide leg lounging pants – no pockets, but they’re soft.

Did you buy it? How is the fit and fabric in person? I feel like Nordstrom house brands have fallen off in the past few years.
