Tuesday Outfit: Something Pretty

Aug 13, 2025

(I’m posting this Wednesday morning because of some technical issues.)

Ivory is a color that you can wear in any season. It brings a lightness to fall and winter and embraces summer without the starkness of white. This outfit pairs a light sweater with a fuller, flirtier skirt to create an outfit that is perfect for late summer, but can still be worn in winter with a few alterations.

This street style photo found on Pinterest really embraces mixes elegance and ease. It feels so effortless, yet so feminine and put together. Here’s how to recreate it.

Sweater // This ribbed sweater in a delicate knit was incredibly difficult to find. I located this sweater from Banana Republic that’s pretty close, but I don’t love a snug-fitting sweater. Instead, I decided to pivot and found this wonderfully textured, short roll neck, medium-weight sweater from J.Crew Factory. This is a better fit for my wardrobe, but still offers a more unique texture and shape than a standard crewneck. Prefer a simple crewneck? Quince has a nice option.

Skirt // The skirt is the star of the show. It’s sophisticated, and playful without being juvenile. I chose this pleat front midi-skirt from Boden because I loved the fullness. It feels maximalist in an approachable, wearable way.

If you want more of an a-line, like the skirt in the photo, Ann Taylor has you covered. For something a bit more affordable, ASTR has a similar skirt in stock. This high-waist version from Amazon is also very dramatic in a stylish way.

Shoes // I cannot wear a slide kitten heel. My feet have four-decades of use on them, and they will not survive a shoe like that for more than a few minutes. Instead, I chose these gorgeous Bandolino Mary Jane Mules. I love the mix of ladylike details and the unique style. Just a little something different for the office.

Looking for a simple slide? The shoes in the inspo photo are likely Stuart Weitzman. For something more affordable, try these shoes from Pelle Moda.

Accessories // This Veronica Beard bag still has me utterly smitten. It has become my Roman Empire. This JW Pei bag has some similar characteristics for a price that is more affordable.

These wide, flat hoop earrings from GLDN are so cute. For the watch, I chose this multi-tone Daniel Wellington watch with delicate features. I didn’t add the necklaces from the inspo photo, but if you’re looking for something similar, this bow lariat necklace is a nice choice.

For the sunglasses, these Quince Baja glasses have a unique shape. They also come in a silver-tone option. Also, how cool is it to use a longer necklace as a hanger for your sunglasses? Great idea. If you need to keep sunnies or reading glasses at the ready, try this loop necklace from Amazon.

Styling // The red lip is a must with this look. The deep color elevates the style, and the pop of color is so needed when wearing all ivory. This Merit lipstick is my favorite red right now.

For the hair, I would wear it down if the outfit needs to feel more casual. If you want to dress it up, wear your hair in a low bun.

Winter Tips // Want to wear this look in the winter, it’s an easy adjustment. Just add opaque black tights and tall black boots. It should blend seamlessly.
